Psychedelic clinical trial for Treatment Resistant Depression

Reimbursement: Up to £2250

About This clinical research study

Clinical trials are research projects, performed as a way of bringing about progress in medicine and research. Clinical research projects make it possible to scientifically assess the properties of a study medication, to demonstrate the effectiveness and safety of a treatment or a medical device, or to learn more about a disease and methods to diagnose and monitor it.

Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) is a common mental health condition that leads to persistent low mood and loss of interest in activities. Despite the availability of various treatments, only one-third of people with depression have an improvement with them. When someone with MDD does not respond to at least two different medications, the condition is referred to as treatment-resistant depression (TRD).

Psychedelic compounds (also known as hallucinogens) have been found to temporarily change perceptions, sensations, and emotions. Research into psychedelic-assisted therapy to treat depression in a controlled, clinical environment may go on to provide treatment options for people with depression.

Here at MAC, we are looking for people who would like to take part in a clinical trial researching potential new treatments for TRD using a psychedelic compound (called 5-MeO-DMT). If you are eligible for this study, you will be supported throughout the trial by professionals experienced in this potentially innovative approach to treat mental health conditions.
