About The Research...

IBS is a common condition of the digestive system that affects around 10-15% of adults. It can cause symptoms like abdominal pain or discomfort, stomach cramps, bloating, diarrhoea and constipation.

This trial will test the effect of Blautix® (the investigational study drug) compared to placebo (inactive pill) on symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome. There will be 5 visits to one of our clinics over approximately 16 weeks. The study drug or placebo is to be taken orally as two capsules, twice daily.

Criteria:

Key Inclusion Criteria:

  • Male or female aged 18 – 70 years
  • Diagnosis of IBS
  • Abdominal pain at least once a week due to IBS
  • BMI 18 – 39 kg/m2.

 

Key Exclusion Criteria:

  • Diagnosis of lactose intolerance or Coeliac disease
  • Significant changes to diet in the last 3 months

Any other information

Eligible patients will receive a comprehensive health screen and study participation will be in collaboration with the patient’s treating physician.
