About The Research...

We are currently recruiting healthy male volunteers for a COVID-19 clinical trial at our clinic in Greater Manchester.

COVID-19 is a highly contagious disease, caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2).

To date, treatments for COVID-19 are limited and supportive in nature. Prevention aimed at reducing spread in the community is the best strategy at present. The high infectivity and fast spread of COVID-19 has prompted the testing of existing drugs used for other illnesses against it. These older drugs may have the ability to treat COVID-19.

Ivermectin is a well-known drug used for many years in the treatment of several parasitic infections. Used on millions of patients, its safety and tolerability are well described. It has recently demonstrated the ability to stop viruses replicating in laboratory tests. Ivermectin may have the potential to prevent and/or treat COVID-19 infections, which requires more investigation.

24 healthy male volunteers will take Ivermectin or placebo and attend 6 x outpatient visits, 1 x 7-night residential stay and 1 x 1-night additional residential stay. Participants will receive £2685 payment for time and commitment upon completion of the trial and we will notify your GP of your participation and of any information relevant to your healthcare.

A full description of the study will be given before you decide to take part, both over the phone and during an appointment at a MAC clinic. This will include you receiving the full patient information sheet and an opportunity to ask the study doctor any questions.

Reimbursement: £2,685 plus travel expenses or transport reimbursed.
