Knee Osteoarthritis

About This clinical research study

MAC Clinical Research is currently running a study to trial a potential new treatment for osteoarthritis of the knee. Previous research shows that the trial drug is designed to block the activity of a substance called CCL17 by attaching to it. CCL17 is a protein released by cells which has been shown to cause inflammation and joint pain and it is hoped that by blocking it, the trial drug may reduce inflammation and improve symptoms in people with OA pain. The main objective for this trial is to assess changes in pain in participants with OA of the knee following repeat subcutaneous dosing.

ABOUT CLINICAL RESEARCH STUDIES

Clinical research studies are performed as a way of bringing about progress in medicine and research. Clinical research studies make it possible to scientifically assess the properties of a drug, to demonstrate the effectiveness and safety of a treatment or a medical device, or to learn more about a disease and methods to diagnose and monitor it.

If the study is successful, it may be an important step towards developing a promising new treatment.
